Overview: During the height of the pandemic, Deloitte came together with Salesforce to produce a guide for business leaders to help them prepare for “the world remade” by COVID-19. The goal of the report was to position Deloitte as a leader in helping companies use scenario planning to navigate the unprecedented uncertainty caused by the pandemic.
Authored by Andrew Blau and Peter Schwartz, the perspective posited four possible scenarios for the new future and included derivative pieces that drilled down into specific topics of interest to our clients. The authors wanted the visuals to reflect the unique inflection point that businesses faced, and the uncertainty and opportunity it presented. They felt the overall tone should evoke optimism and empowerment in our business leader audience.
We distilled this guidance into the concept of seeing around corners, which we wove into all the images we created. We also incorporated elements of optical illusions to convey a feeling of uncertainty, as well as prominent light source to represent optimism. We worked with a talented illustrator to bring all of these visuals to life and set each one up to be animated for use in social media.
The other significant deliverable for this campaign was a video highlighting the four scenarios. The video combined 2D and 3D animation to bring this vision of multiple futures to life.
The project was a huge success. Within the first twelve weeks of its launch, the web site attracted 171,344 unique visitors and 43,580 downloads of the full report. The report findings were featured in USA Today, Axios, and other leading news outlets.
My role: I was the creative lead for design on this project, responsible for conceptualizing the visual style, designing the report layout, and art directing the motion graphic. I worked closely with the illustrator to craft the images and sketched out the storyboard frames, and with our motion designer and writer to flesh out the story. This project took team members of various disciplines to bring the assets to life.
